Handmade crisps arrive from the farm

From our Urban Coffee HQ

As you may have realised we like to source our food and drink very carefully. That’s why we have taken so long to find suitable crisps for Urban Coffee.

Pipers hand cook their crisps in Lincolnshire using local potatoes and source the other ingredients from farms across the UK.

Pipers supply the East Coast Mainline Railway, Harvey Nichols, The Royal Albert Hall, Twickenham Stadium and over 600 independent retailers like us.

Some of the flavours:

Norfolk Bloody Mary

The tomatoes produced are the very best. Combined with other herbs and spices Pipers has produced the fabulous Norfolk Bloody Mary.

West Country Chedder and Onion

John Alvis at Lye Cross Farm uses the traditional cheddaring process to make his cheese.

Come in and try them!

Guess the number of coffee beans

From our Urban Coffee HQ

In aid of Macmillan, we are running a ‘guess the number of coffee beans in the jar’ competition- its like village fetes as a child all over again.

All you need to do is come in, make a donation, then write down your guess. The person who is the closest will win a single cup filter, filter papers and a bag of our single estate Sumatran coffee.

We will run this until Cupcake Friday 2nd Oct.

Train Coffee

From our Urban Coffee HQ

We have always thought the quality of coffee you get at most train stations is pretty bad but the stuff you get on trains is like watered down diesel. Worse of all UHT milk – why would you do this to coffee is it not bad enough its instant coffee but to then add UHT milk to is – pleaseeee.

We suggest taking a flask with you rather than suffer this.

Urban Espresso

From our Urban Coffee HQ

Our espresso coffee is a blend of 100% Arabica beans from 4 different farms.

Brazillian Daterra farm, this farm is world wide known for its excellent science in the growing and processing of coffee. Coffee from the Daterra farm comes shipped in vacuum boxes. The Daterra coffee is the base for the blend which accounts for the great body and sweetness.

We then add top grade coffee from Honduras La Centrale and Costa Rico Tres Rio. These are both the highest grade coffees available. Finally we add some delicious aged coffee from India. This is the India Monsoon Malabar AA and has been exposed to the monsoon winds for about 6 weeks. It gives the coffee a unique aroma and fantastic aftertaste. It also adds to the long lasting crema and body of the coffee. Finally it gives the coffee a low acidity which it is so well known for and hints of caramel. India monsoon malabar comes from the south west region and looks pale before roasting.

The coffee is then carefully roasted in a small traditional drum roaster. The drum roaster is connected to a highly advanced computer system which controls many aspects during the roast such as gas input and temperatures. The roaster is also watching and overlooking the roast to ensure the best quality roast is obtained. We aim for consistency in the roast and you can taste this all year round.

The Urban Coffee Espresso is a fantastic blend, great as a ristretto or espresso and delicious with milk.
